Requirements for summer internship
Prospective summer interns must be at least 18 years of age and should be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program.
This is a full-time, hourly position: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.
If selected, interns are responsible for securing housing for the summer.
Individuals who have held internship positions with the churchwide organization in the past are not eligible.
Preferred start date is June 3, 2019. End date to be determined based on return to school date. Ability to stay through August 23, 2019 is a plus.
1.Help plan, invite and prepare for 300 leaders to join Congregational Vitality Training Aug 19-23 in Baltimore, MD, including registration; supporting specialized trainings; and logistical help.This summer’s emphasis includes setting up a panel on immigration ministries with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.
2.Call and connect with people on the phone to help leaders bring teams from their churches to the training.
3.Help follow-up with ministries and synods receiving ELCA grants to start new churches and revitalize churches.
4.Support the work of 2-3 mission developer training cohorts, including the Latino Ecumenical Network for Planting and Renewing Churches (REDIL); the Homeless Justice/Poverty Justice Network and more.
5. Participate in monthly meetings for reflection, learning, and leadership enhancement, improvement, and advancement, in order to experience formative growth as an intern.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and see. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.
