Job Description:

Requirements for summer internship

Prospective summer interns must be at least 18 years of age and should be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program.

This is a full-time, hourly position: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

If selected, interns are responsible for securing housing for the summer.

Individuals who have held internship positions with the churchwide organization in the past are not eligible.

Preferred start date is June 4, 2018. End date to be determined based on return to school date.

Position summary

(2) Interns will assist with:

Assist with building applicant profiles in GrantMaker for 300 plus ELCA affiliated social ministry organizations;

Assist with gathering affiliation documents from social ministry organizations applying for ELCA Affiliation;

Assist with preparing presentations materials, for Missional Sustainability Trainings;

Assist with planning the ELCA’s summer intern field trip;

Participate in Poverty and Justice team meetings and activities, in addition to Lutheran Center meetings and activities.

Participate in activities with the ELCA Strategy on HIV and AIDS including:

Assist with providing communications and resources for National HIV Testing Day in June;

Assist with raising visibility and supporting communications around the ELCA Strategy on HIV and AIDS; and

Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and see. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee will need to lift boxes or materials up to 45 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Experience and Skills:

* Good communications skills both written and verbal;

* Previous experience working in an office environment;

* Familiar Outlook programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
