Job Context Information

The Mission Advancement unit is responsible for communicating with constituents and donors, handling marketing and public relations and

directing fund appeals in order to most effectively communicate around a clear identity and churchwide mission while also motivating donors to

respond with financial gifts. The ELCA Foundation, an integral part of the Mission Advancement unit, is responsible for major gifts and deferred giving

programs for individual donors and pooled investment opportunities for ELCA related ministries

Job Purpose

The primary role of this position is to assist the director with evolving and implementing congregational and donor development through coaching and training in the field. Secondary role involves managing the business relationship with ministry partner organizations through on-site visits.

Job Responsibilities

1. Coach/Train/Motivate: Via video chat, phone, email, staff meetings

2. Coach/Train/Motivate: Via joint field work

3. Relationship manager for partner ministries involving face to face meetings and administrative tasks

Experience and Skills:

1. Knowledge and ability to market the services offered by the Foundation, with ability to modify and enhance current processes.

2. Ability to develop and manage process completing gift plans with regional gift planners and individual donors.

3. Investment and estate planning knowledge.

4. Ability to coach, train, and motivate Regional Gift Planners with the skills necessary to develop congregations, resulting in planned and current gifts, and endowments.

5. Well organized with the ability to analyze data.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to present to large groups.

Required certifications or licenses:

Bachelor’s degree or 7 year’s sales experience
